We invite photographers from around Abuja, Benin City, and Lagos to submit a personal project proposal that captures the essence of the Age of Anthropocene – Globalization, Urbanization/Migration, and Climate Change. With this call we aim to celebrate the unique perspectives, understanding, and creative visions of documentary photographers in these cities, showcasing the diversity of the genre, of the topic, and the many ways in which it can be interpreted. This three-month project/ learning is designed to support photojournalists and or documentary photographers in Nigeria. Participants will develop a personal project around the topic, on which they will work with a professional guide for Three months. Participating photographers will join other artists at a two days workshop, where they will learn the techniques of photography, African photography history, ethics, visual literacy, and climate change. They will also learn how to pitch a story to editors, how to put on an exhibition, how to speak confidently in public, and how to present their work to a broader audience.
Workshops will be held online and in Benin City, as well as regular online support. Apply here
